SEA CEO Lisa Nitze tours Nashville

SEA Middle Tennessee Chapter Chair Dan Surface organized a terrific three days in Nashville for SEA CEO Lisa Nitze. On March 21st, Lisa gave a symposium address to students and a luncheon address to local nonprofits at Belmont University. A meeting with Nashville Mayor, Karl Dean, and Nashville Chamber of Commerce President, Howard Gentry focused on Nashville’s Poverty Initiative and the role social enterprise could play in its success. Lisa did site visits of Nashville social enterprises Habitat for Humanity, Dispensary of Hope, Goodwill Industries, ThriftSmart, Thistle Farms and Second Harvest Food Bank. She met with SEA Chapter partners the Nashville Center for Nonprofit Management and the Entrepreneur Center. An evening reception with SEA’s Chapter leadership offered opportunity for a lively debate about how SEA Chapters and members can best catalyze sustainable systems change in communities.
